Markets calendar

The dates that move markets: the rate decisions of the ECB, the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England and the Swiss National Bank, and the inflation, growth and jobs releases that shape them. Every date comes from the institution's own published schedule; the source is linked with each entry.

How to use the dates

Central banks. The ECB decides on the second day of a two-day meeting and publishes new staff projections in March, June, September and December; the Federal Reserve's FOMC does the same with its Summary of Economic Projections; the Bank of England publishes a Monetary Policy Report with four of its eight decisions a year; the Swiss National Bank assesses its policy quarterly. Markets move on the decision, on the statement and on what the press conference says about the next meeting.

Data. The flash estimate of euro-area inflation comes at the start of the month for the month just ended; the final figure two weeks later rarely differs by more than a tenth. GDP comes in three steps: a preliminary flash about 30 days after the quarter, a flash at 45 days with employment, and the full accounts later. US releases are at 08:30 Eastern Time, 14:30 in Central Europe.

Dates are those published on the day this calendar was last updated and can change; the institutions' calendars linked above are authoritative. For what the figures meant last quarter, see the market reader and the reports.
